Throughout the course of high school, students have been given the opportunity to participate in AP (Advanced Placement) classes. From my perspective, taking AP classes was definitely challenging in many aspects. At first, I was able to experience failure trying to adjust to change. However, later on I started to learn new concepts that assisted in my transition from failure to success, such as being able to look at the bigger picture, take things one step at a time, and that struggling is a sign that I’m actually learning and not just blindly completing a task. I also took the liberty of asking some fellow classmates about their experiences in AP classes. Here are the interviews..
INTERVIEWER: What did you enjoy most about the class?
JAIR GUZMAN: I enjoyed being inside of a room with people that are genuinely interested in participating in higher levels of education and because of that, everyone was well informed of current events.
SAMANTHA PICHARDO: I enjoyed the fact that it was difficult and that it was a class that I really had to take seriously.
INTERVIEWER: What were some challenges you faced taking your AP class(s)?
DYLAN GUERRO: I didn’t know how to manage my time while taking my AP class and my other classes.
SAMANTHA PICHARDO: I had trouble adjusting to the syllabus.
INTERVIEWER: Is there anything you would change about your experience(s)?
YARLIN ALONZO: I would change trying to be more engaged instead of giving up too quickly.
JOSE SILVERIO: I would change asking for help so I could do better.
INTERVIEWER: Was it worth it?
DYLAN GUERRO: It was worth it because it prepares me for classes in the future.
SHANE DISLA: It was worth it because I got to meet new people and think outside the box.
INTERVIEWER: Was there anything that stuck with you?
EDGAR MIRANDA: The organization and preparation you have to do for the class. I had to learn how to double-check.
BRYAN ASMAL: The connections I made with the teachers.
Based on this, a great quantity of students recommend joining AP classes because of the lessons you learn, the challenges you face, and the connections you make along the way. The next AP exams are in May of 2025.
